Pigmentation spots: more even, step by step
How pigmentation spots develop
The skin produces the pigment melanin to protect itself from the sun. If too much of it is produced in certain areas, spots appear. The common triggers are sun over many years (age or sun spots), hormones, for example during pregnancy or from the pill (melasma), and inflammation such as spots that leave dark marks.
What we do at La Finesse
After the skin analysis we usually recommend microneedling with GlowSolution Reverse Needling as a course: we stimulate skin renewal and work in active ingredients in a targeted way. We also adjust your skincare at home, including with products from iS Clinical. The HydraFacial® can support the result with exfoliation and moisture.
Essential: sun protection
Without daily sun protection with a high SPF, pigmentation spots keep coming back. This applies all year round, even when the sky is cloudy. That is why autumn and winter are the ideal time for a pigmentation course.
When to see a dermatologist?
Any spot that is new, grows, changes colour or shape, itches or bleeds must be checked by a doctor before any cosmetic treatment. We do not work on moles.

Pigmentation spots in Bern: your questions, our answers
Can pigmentation spots be removed cosmetically?
Pigmentation spots can be lightened cosmetically and the skin’s appearance evened out, but they do not always disappear completely. How much a spot changes depends on its cause and depth. Results vary from person to person. After the skin analysis we tell you honestly what is realistic.
Which treatment do you recommend for pigmentation spots?
Usually microneedling with GlowSolution Reverse Needling as a course, combined with suitable skincare and consistent sun protection. The HydraFacial® can provide freshness and moisture in between.
When is the right time for a treatment?
Autumn and winter. During this time the skin is less exposed to the sun, and the risk of new spots forming is lower. You still need sun protection all year round.
What is the difference between age spots and melasma?
Age spots develop from years of sun, usually on the face, hands and décolleté, and are clearly defined. Melasma consists of larger, patchy areas, often on the forehead, cheeks and upper lip, triggered by hormones and sun. Melasma is more persistent and needs particular patience and sun protection.
I have dark marks after spots. Can this help too?
Yes, such marks after inflammation often fade on their own over time. A treatment and good skincare can support this. It is important that the acne has calmed down first. More on this under acne and blemished skin.
How many sessions are needed?
Pigmentation spots need patience. As a rule, we recommend a course of several sessions a few weeks apart. We discuss how many you need after the skin analysis.
Do you also work on moles?
No. Moles and any spots that change, grow, itch or bleed should be seen by a dermatologist. Please always have unclear spots checked by a doctor first.
How much does a treatment cost?
Microneedling with GlowSolution Reverse Needling currently costs from CHF 250. You can see all current prices when booking online via Treatwell.
What can I do against pigmentation at home?
Most important is daily sunscreen with a high SPF, all year round and even when it is cloudy. We adapt your skincare at home, including with products from iS Clinical.
Does a HydraFacial help with pigmentation?
For pigmentation we usually work with microneedling as a course, the HydraFacial® can complement it in between. We discuss the exact plan after the skin analysis.
